International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS)

国際超電導シンポジウム(ISS)実行委員会

The International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS) was established in 1988 following the groundbreaking discovery of copper-oxide-based high-temperature superconductors. Since then, ISS has been held annually, attracting approximately 400 participants from around the world to share cutting-edge research and exchange innovative ideas in the field of superconductivity.
The symposium covers a broad spectrum of topics—from fundamental science to advanced applications—providing an exceptional platform for fostering collaboration between academia and industry. ISS maintains a strong commitment to program excellence by inviting leading experts in the areas of Physics and Chemistry (PC), Wires and Bulk (WB), Electronic Devices (ED), and Large-Scale Applications (AP).
As of January 1, 2024, the management structure of ISS has evolved. From FY2016 to FY2023, ISS was hosted by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). Beginning FY2024, ISS became independent from AIST and is now operated in close cooperation with related academic communities. To ensure smooth governance, the ISS-Board was established, with Professor Hiroyuki Osaki (The University of Tokyo) serving as its first chairman.
ISS will continue to work collaboratively with the global superconductivity research community and contribute to the advancement and dissemination of superconducting technologies. We sincerely appreciate your continued support.
The 39th International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS2026) will be held at Toyama International Conference Center from December 1 to 3, 2026. The symposium chair will be Professor Akira Fujimaki, Nagoya University.
