International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS)

国際超電導シンポジウム(ISS)実行委員会

The International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS) was launched back in 1988 after the discovery of copper-oxide-based high temperature superconductors. Since then, it has been held annually with around 400 participants from all over the world sharing their most recent research results and exchanging innovative ideas about superconductivity. Topics ranging from fundamental science to novel applications are covered and thus the symposium offers great opportunities to build links between academics and industry. The ISS is committed to excellence in its program by inviting the world’s leading experts in the Physics and Chemistry(PC), Wires and Bulk(WB), Electronic Devices(ED), and Large Scale Applications(AP) fields of superconductivity.
As you know, the management structure of the International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS) has changed from 1st January 2024. The ISS was hosted by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) from FY2016 to FY2023, but from FY2024, the ISS become independent from AIST and is operated in cooperation with related academic communities. In order to ensure the smooth operation of this organization, a governing board (ISS-Board) was established, and Professor Hiroyuki Osaki of the University of Tokyo was appointed as the first chairman. ISS will continue to collaborate with everyone in the superconductivity research field and contribute to the development and spread of superconducting technology. We would appreciate for your continued support. We are pleased to start for inviting you for the 38th International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS2025).  The symposium will be held face to face on December 2-4, 2025, at DEJIMA MESSE NAGASAKI, Nagasaki, Japan. Emeritus Professor Atsutaka MAEDA, the University of Tokyo would chair the ISS2025.
