Abstract Body

The magnetic field trapping and magnetic levitation performances of HTS bulk materials are drastically elevated when they employ the small refrigerators to cool them to the temperature range below 77 K. Thus-obtained magnetic field property by far exceeds the conventional permanent magnets. These unique and excellent performances have been expected to be utilized to various novel field applications. The promising candidates for compact and strong field generator as a magnet are NMR magnet, noncontact bearings, fiber orientation, magnetic separation and so on. In NMR, following the development of a compact NMR spectrometer, the world's first result was obtained in measuring the diffusion coefficient of ions in liquids. Magnetic levitation, a phenomenon peculiar to bulk magnets, has been commercialized for new applications. In the topic of fiber orientation, we observed perfect alignment of diamagnetic fiber when the intense magnetic field space on the bulk magnet system. We expect industrialization to thermal interface materials for various heat-transfer. Thus, the role of refrigerators is very important when these application candidates could get large marketplaces.
